Indian movies, and especially Yash Raj Films, have taken a different turn in general. These are not the days of Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. Much has changed since then. Indian movies are no longer “Indian” anymore. Western influence has done its job well. Aditya Chopra’s action packed New York starring John Abraham, Katrina Kaif, Neil Nitin Mukesh, and Irfan Khan is directed by Kabir Khan and seems to be set in a pre-9/11 New York City. It is a contemporary story of friendship set in a larger than life backdrop of the city known as the center of the world. New York is the story of three friends whose lives are turned upside down by larger events beyond their control. New York started filming in September 2008 is although no release date is set yet it will be out in 2009.
