What To Wear On Eid
[Fashion & Beauty-September 2008]

So, Eid ul Fitr is right around the corner…just weeks away and this year it’s all about saris and anarkalis! That does not mean that you pull out any old sari from your drawer. This is the time to select something vibrant, unique, and appealing in a very different way. Try a butterfly pallu this year or even better…a shaded design. Mix together fall colors like reds, oranges, and dont’ stop at that; go for purples and greens for a subtle change. You will definitely want to look your best this year. As for anarkalis, if you don’t already own one the response to that is “why.” It’s time to update your wardrobe with the latest style in the fashion industry. Anarkalis are nothing new. They have been around since the Mughal era. However, they have made an incredible comeback recently, especially following the release of Jodha Akbar earlier this year. Anarkalis look best when worn with a long sleeve option and a slightly longer, mid-calf to almost ankle, length. If you’re not opting for a sari then an anarkali should be your first choice. However, for those of you don’t wish to venture out of your “traditional” salwar kameez boundaries there is always the timeless shalwar kameez but please don’t leave it at just that! Try some brighter color combinations such as purple and green or green and pink and heavy embroidery in kundan and stone work. At last, don’t forget to buy matching chooriyan with whatever you decide to wear!

Take a look at some of the latest apparel we’ve put together from various Eid Collections. You’ll surely find something you love here and if not keep looking online and in the Little India part of your city. With an array of styles out there, you will surely find something trendy to suit you!
