One of the simplest desserts to make is Besan Halwa. The best part about it is that it’s made using a popular and basic Indian staple, besan. It can be made in a hurry when you need a last minute sweet dish.
1 cup besan
1 cup milk
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup ghee or shortening
1 tsp elaichi
sliced almonds and pistachios, for garnish

Heat the ghee or shortening in a pan. Add the besan and cook, stirring, until the flour turns a golden color and a pleasant smell emanates from it. Add elaichi, milk, and sugar. Keep stirring until the mixture turns thick. Pour into a serving dish and decorate with the nuts. Serve hot.
