Current Trends

Monday, November 9th, 2009

It is hard to keep up to date with all the new trends and styles in the great world of fashion. To make it easier this season, here are some highlights of new and current trends. First, is ruffles, which we’ve already discussed:

Another very popular trend that’s currently a huge hit among all ages and sizes is polka dots!

One more, last but not the least, trend is an alternate color pallu. In this the sari is two-colored. The pallu is a seperate but complementary color from the rest of the sari. It is a big favorite!

Abhishek is Proud to Be Gay

Friday, December 5th, 2008

How disgusting! Whatever happened to Indian values. Apparently they’ve gone to hell. In his recent film, Dostana, Abhishek pretends to be gay. He says he is very happy with that. Why am I not surprised? Abhishek looks gay. He’s a stupid and foolish actor and the only reason he’s gotten anywhere today is because of his father and sadly his wife. How shameful! “It’s a matter of great pride if I’m their icon,” says Abhishek. According to him homosexuals are as human as anyone else! No they’re not! India has really become too liberal. Dostana, surprisingly successful has also raised eyebrows and there’s talk that even Amitabh dislikes his character in the movie! Well, at least Big B still has some values left in him. I hope so at least. Too bad he couldn’t instill those values in his son. According to Abhishek, it’s a “normal film” and his entire family has enjoyed it, especially Aishwarya who seems to be very happy with it. Of course she’s happy with it. She has no values and no respect for Indian culture. She’s merely a cheap slut. Sure she’s beautiful. I wouldn’t argue with that but I wouldn’t go so far as to call her a role model or anything.

Karan Johar is surely gay because otherwise why would he make this stupid movie. Even though it is a comedy and we all know how popular they are it’s quite surprising that the film was so successful in the Indian audience. This proves what has become of our culture. The Liberals have taken over the world. More to my dismay, Drona was a flop and Dostana a hit. It really makes not sense. All along I’ve been thinking Bollywood is at fault for not making good movies but now I realize that it is really the audience that is at fault when in fact Bollywood is just giving people what they want…liberal, untraditional, funny, and stupid entertainment. How sadly foolish.

Book on Unforgettable Tour

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

Filmmaker Ramesh Sippy’s daughter Sheena is traveling with the Bachchans on the Unforgettable Tour to photograph the show and compile the pictures into a book. Sheena is a professional photographer and has done assignments with personalities such as Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Imran Khan, Naomi Campbell, and Zakir Husain. Sources say that Sheena is not happy with the fact that Amitabh posts pictures from the concerts on his blog with detailed captions. “The demand for the photographs of the shows is increasing,” says Amitabh on his blog. “I am compiling some more pictures. But this is not being received well by the photographer (Sheena) since she has been assigned to do a book on the tour. She feels all her work is going out to the world before time.” Big B praises Sheena on her work, “The magnificence of the arena and the enthusiasm of the crowds are so beautifully captured by Sheena Sippy Kapoor, who has been assigned to do a book on the tour.” Sheena is married to Shashi Kapoor’s son Kunal. Her family’s association with the Bachchan’s dates back to the time when her father directed Amitabh in the blockbuster Sholay. Later on, her brother Rohan Sippy teamed up with Abhishek Bachchan in Bluffmaster. “We are indeed such an integrated fraternity and proud of it,” says Amitabh.

Unforgettable Tour Disasters!

Monday, August 4th, 2008

Preity Zinta, who is accompanying the Bachchans on their Unforgettable Tour, says even though she gets along with everyone in Bollywood’s first family, she shares a special bond with Jaya Bachchan. Jaya is accompanying her family on the tour even though she’s not performing. Preity says Jaya Aunty is her favorite, “We bonded earlier during Kal Ho Naa Ho. At that time we had gotten really close. Now it’s like old times again. Jaya Aunty is my favorite member of the Bachchan family. We get along so well. ” The two ladies seem to take off on long walks and shopping sprees at every venue. “Just the two of us. We love it!” says Preity.

Speaking of Preity, she too lost her luggage along with Amitabh Bachchan on arrival in LA, just hours before she was to go on stage! Her suitcase contained a precious golden gown and there was no way she would go on stage without it. So in order to get a replacement she began to hunt in the shopping areas of LA for a designer. “I finally found this place run by a guy called Mike. At first he was horrified. ‘How can I make a duplicate dress without a pattern, and that too in just hours?’ But you know me. I badgered, threatened, pleaded. It was done. I got my golden gown just in time,” said Preity.

On the subject of Unforgettable Tour disasters…During the show in Houston, when Amitabh was on stage, the power to the sound went out in the middle of ‘Rang Barse.’ In a flash, the percussions and drums who don’t need power kept the beat going. In addition, everyone from backstage ran on to the stage and kept clapping to the beat and dancing. When the audience realized the power was gone they stood up and joined in the clapping and dancing. In the words of Amitabh, “It was electric. I had goose bumps. What a crowd. What an audience!” He adds, “You won our hearts Houston. I shall never forget this moment.” Houston also seems to be the best show yet for the tour. “This is the biggest and the best that I have ever done, what will I do next”, says Amitabh.

Sachin Tendulkar stars in a Bollywood Film!

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Katrina Kaif said she loved wearing saris in Singh is Kinng. She is usually seen in Western clothes but shot an entire song in saris for the film. Well, at least someone in Bollywood finally realizes the importance of Indian clothes! Or, maybe not? The saris Katrina flaunts in this song are designed by none other than, the one and only, Manish Malhotra! The song was hot in the same location in Egypt where Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol filmed “Suraj Hua Madham” for Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham.

Speaking of saris, it seems that Bollywood has forgotten all about them lately. Remember the 90s? They were full of slim actresses in sheer, chiffon saris. What ever happened to our culture! All you see is jeans and halter tops and sometimes need to be reminded that you’re watching an Indian movie! Bollywood is seriously lacking in their filmmaking. I must say, I have not been the least bit impressed by new releases this year. Let’s just wait and see how the year ends…

Lara Dutta says she’s proud to be single. Isn’t that what all people who can’t find the true love and a decent relationship say to cover up what’s really going on? Well, I think so! When asked in an interview how single she is she responded, “I’m blissfully single.” One of Lara’s upcoming films include Sudhir Mishra’s modern version of Devdas where she plays Paro. “Sudhir Mishra’s Devdas isn’t really a period film. It’s very literate and layered and I’d have to dig really deep into myself to play Paro. She is dark, ambitious and self-destructive character,” says Lara.

Chamku is all set to be released this August. Dharmendra once again stars alongside his sons Sunny and Bobby Deol. He hopes for it to be AS entertaining as Apne. I hope for it to be MORE entertaining than Apne! I must say I was not impressed at all with Apne. What were they thinking? Perhaps they weren’t! Anyway, it seems they have left out Hema Malini once again in their “family movie.” Chamku is a romantic film. That’s a nice change from Apne, I must say. The film stars Bobby and Priyanka Chopra in the lead roles.

Back to Katrina Kaif…she will be seen alongside Bollywood’s Saawariya, who is none other than Ranbir Kapoor, in Prakash Jha’s political thriller Rajneeti. This political saga also stars Ajay Devgan and Manoj Bajpai. Seems to me like Ajay is trying to fit back into the Bollywood “scene.”

Last, but never the least, the news you have been reading this for…India’s master blaster, Sachin Tendulkar, will make his big screen debut with the Marathi film, Vighnaharta Shri Siddhivinayak. The movie is about the miracles of Lord Ganesha and aims to convey a social message. Movie producer, Rajiv Singhvi, prefers to call it a social rather than mythological film. He also mentioned that a number of Bollywood movie stars, who are devotees of Lord Ganesha, will make guest appearances in the film. The film will also have a voice-over by Amitabh Bachchan. Tendulkar will start shooting as soon as he returns from his cricket tour to Sri Lanka.
