…For desis that is! Why? Two new movies were released this past Friday: Heroes and Roadside Romeo and they’re not stupid movies either! Heroes is a journey that calls for patriotism and emotions…sounds interesing and Roadside Romeo was made by the one and only Yash Raj Films and Walt Disney in a partnership that has created an animated film with the voices of Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor. Anyway, neither of these movies are playing in the entire New England area! We are talking six states: Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, and the dumbest of all Rhode Island. Why would anyone in their right mind want to live here? Look forward to next weekend though if you live in Massachusetts because Fashion and Golmaal Returns will both be playing in some theatre. Do you hate New England? Tell us why! If you love it, we really don’t want to know!

Just as Walt Disney brings fairy tales to the West, Yash Raj Films has given us Indians fairy tales for decades. But what happens when the two come together?…Roadside Romeo! An animated comedy, starring the voices of Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor, Roadside Romeo was supposed to release this past summer but we are still awaiting it’s release. The wait will be over soon though! Roadside Romeo is all set to release on October 24. The long wait is almost over and you won’t want to miss this interesting and unique film! In the meantime….

Bollywood’s Jab We Met heroine, Kareena Kapoor is looking forward to her birthday on September 21st, for many reasons but especially because she will be shooting with her favorite actor Aamir Khan. “On my birthday I will be shooting for Rajkumar Hirani’s Three Idiots in Ladakh. And the best part is that I will be shooting wiht my favorite actor, Aamir Khan,” Kareena told IANS on Saturday. When asked whether she is irritated with the media frenzy surrounding her relationship with Saif, Kareena responded, ” I am not irritated but these things are personal. You guys (media) keep hovering around us and taking pictures wherever we go.”

Well what the hell do you expect Kareena? After all, once you become a big star you just have to accept that the media is part of the package!!

Deepika Padukone, Bollywood’s favorite newcomer, has topped the popular Maxim Hot 100 Girls worldwide list. The Maxim Hot list makes its debut in India and Deepika is winner of the first edition. “To be honest, personally I never thought of myself as sexy or hot but if that’s the call that people have taken, then I hope I live up to it. I am so excited about this,” Deepika said in a press statement. Previous Bollywood celebrity winners have included Bipasha Basu, Katrina Kaif, and Kareena Kapoor. “Deepika was our choice as the winner because apart from her huge fan following with the new generation of Indians, she also has the potential to be an international face. This calls for a huge party,” said Anup Kutty, editor of Maxim-India.

Akshay Kumar promoted his upcoming film Singh is Kinng in LA today. The movie will be released on August 8. Akshay stars along Katrina Kaif once again after Namastey London and Welcome.

Speaking of Katrina…she and Salman Khan have finally split and are no longer on speaking terms! That was bound to happen. Apparently, the reason being Salman’s behavior towards Shahrukh on Katrina’s birthday.

Back in the Western hemisphere…the annual South Asian Masala! Mehndi! Masti!, in Toronto, claims to have conducted the world’s biggest dance class ever! It was attended by 3,500 people and broke the previous Guiness record of 1,800 in Moscow.

Speaking of Canada, the Unforgettable Tour has been canceled in Vancouver. Why you ask? Because of the high ticket prices set by the Canadian promoters (Ethnic Guru). Even though the American shows are highly priced as well, they are still affordable. The two Canadian shows in Toronto and Vancouver were extremely over priced resulting in only 10,000 fans turning up at the Toronto show for a venue that had a 20-25,000 capacity. On the other hand, 20,000 fans attended the recent shows in LA and San Francisco.

Soha Ali Khan approves of Kareena Kapoor for her brother, saying, “The fact that Kareena loves my brother, and makes him really happy, is what I like about her. Kareena is great fun to be with. She takes a lot of efforts with my parents too. I wish her loads of happiness.” Let’s wait and see what happens to this relationship.
